Full Job Description

Ask yourself:

  • Do i feel called to the ministry of Lendrick Muir?
  • Am I passionate about serving God through working in housekeeping?
  • Would I enjoy working hard delivering practical cleaning and laundry services?
  • Am I willing and able to work full days on my feet in a large residential centre?

The working day begins with Morning Thought (daily staff devotion), a time to focus on God through Bible reading and prayer. This is led by staff on a rota basis and involves preparing a thought for the day to share with the staff team and leading a time of team prayer.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working alongside others as we often work as a team to carry out house turnarounds between group visits - usually to a tight time schedule. As the house sleeps 165 people when at full capacity, it can take a fair amount of energy and many flights of stairs! There is also the daily cleaning of guest bathrooms and staff areas, as well as some laundry work, such as folding linen and delivering it to rooms.

You will be expected to work an average of 37.5 hours a week which is subject to variation according to seasonal hours, with some evening and weekend work.

For this post we will provide you with onsite accommodation with your own bedroom in a shared house valued at £4,500p/a.

All staff houses have fully equipped kitchens for staff to cater for themselves. Full on-the-job training will be provided in the role. The role is for a fixed term of one year.

For this post it is important that you are committed to SU Scotland's ethos, working principles and vision and are able to demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.

This post requires the occupant to have a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord and to believe the Bible to be fully trustworthy, in all that they they affirm, and the highest authority for faith and life in keeping with SU Scotland's statement of faith. These principles require to be applied alongside the professional skills required in this role.

The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
