Alltnacriche regularly hosts school groups participating in residential experiences, SU Holidays and youth groups enjoying weekend breaks. We offer a range of outdoor activities to our guests, and use outdoor classroom concepts with schools.
Classroom Outdoors is our highly regarded programme of school residential experiences and we welcome 700 – 800 pupils from around 30 schools to Alltnacriche each year.
Our ideal candidate will have the understanding and experience to run a kitchen to a very high standard, blending hands on tasks with leading and managing a small team of support staff/volunteers. You will have the drive and vision to develop the menu and experience we offer to our guests, with a strong focus on responding to their needs as and when necessary. You will need to be comfortable balancing this guest centered approach with the knowledge and ability to implement full HACCP control procedures at all times, and will be responsible for ensuring that this happens.
During school residentials you will take the lead in delivering breakfast and a three course evening meal with options, working with the schools host to ensure all relevant information is passed on and all dietary and medical needs are met. You will also be responsible for planning future menus, ordering and stock control, alongside normal tasks associated with running a kitchen.
We have a number of other groups who will require catering, however the majority of our weekend groups and all SU Holidays are self-catered and will have access to our kitchen facilities. You will be responsible for induction and support during their event and ensuring the kitchen is returned to the appropriate standard after use.
Outside of school residentials there will be an additional focus on developing what the centre can offer, deep cleaning, equipment maintenance, staff and personal development, and opportunities to be involved in other areas of the centre’s ministry.
This role may be suitable for flexible working arrangements and this can be discussed at interview. The accommodation that is part of the package on offer for this role can be discussed at interview.
Alltnacriche is a small team and you will be involved in all aspects of caring for our guests, including regular evening work, and you may be required to hold the duty phone overnight.
Full time, 37.5 hours per week with seasonal variation. Permanent.
Salary: £13,063-£14,107 per annum (placing dependent on experience) plus accommodation (valued at £4,000 per annum for pension contribution purposes).
