Gowanbank is regularly hosting church groups, youth groups and SU holidays, with 45 beds and around 1100 bed nights this year. Our aim is to create an environment where ministry can thrive in a residential setting, a place where people can feel their event has a home and this role will be key to achieving this.
Our ideal candidate will have the understanding and experience to take care of a residential Centre, ensuring that appropriate regular cleaning and maintenance cycles are followed and that standards are kept high. You will ideally have experience in a similar supervisory role and will have the ability to make the position your own, with a strong focus on developing routines and schedules as the number of guests visiting the Centre increases and the business grows. Relationships with both colleagues and guests are key and you will be someone who enjoys getting to know people as they visit on a regular basis.
You will take the lead in ensuring public areas and facilities are kept clean and tidy and will implement a daily toilet cleaning schedule. You will organise turnarounds and provide the structure and guidelines to enable your colleagues to support you in completing this work. You will be responsible for ordering of chemicals and materials and will carry out regular stock checks, ensuring that all storage areas are kept clean and tidy. You will be responsible for compliance with COSHH regulations and will take the lead in this area.
Outside of the main schools’ seasons, you will carry out a programme of deeper cleans and maintenance schedules. You will also be responsible for creating a welcoming environment immediately outside the main Centre buildings, eg; planting, grass cutting, etc.
Gowanbank is a small team and you will be involved in all aspects of caring for our guests, including regular evening work, and you will be required to hold the duty phone overnight once a week. Participation in the intentional Christian community of the Centre is essential and applicants must be able to join with other believers in prayer and Bible study.
